The East End Beach in Portland

Portland Paddle is based next to the East End Beach on the Portland waterfront at the very end of Cutter Street.  Our site offer an ideal launching spot for a paddle into the beautiful islands of Casco Bay or along the waterfront of Portland harbor. You can stay within the relatively sheltered waters along the shoreline or venture onto the Maine Island Trail for a day trip or multi-day expedition. All of our guided trips and lessons launch from our East End Beach site unless otherwise stated. Our shop is seasonal and does not have a street address.

DIRECTIONS to the East end beach

We are located at the very end of Cutter Street, where the road meets the ocean. Our shop is seasonal and does not have a street number. We're a short walk or drive from downtown Portland, right beside the boat racks and boat launch at the East End Beach, which is part of the Eastern Promenade park.

DRIVING: If you are driving from anywhere in the city, head north on Congress Street until the road ends and you can see Casco Bay across the street. Take a right onto the Eastern Promenade and drive about 1/4 mile with the hillside park on your left before taking a left onto Cutter Street. Drive all the way down the hill until you find a good parking spot. All parking spots on Cutter Street are within a fairly short walk our site and all are free of charge. The parking spots right beside us are short-term only, so we suggest you park in the all-day parking that you'll find in the big lots halfway down the hill. You are very likely to get ticketed if you park too long in a short-term space.

WALKING: If you are walking from the Old Port or anywhere in downtown Portland, you can either follow the driving directions above or walk along the scenic Eastern Promenade Trail until you see us. A trail map can be found here
