Paddle With the Tall Ship this Weekend!
Join us for a very special kayaking trip to view the Tall Ships Festival “Parade of Sail”
Thousands of people are flocking to Portland waterfront this weekend to watch an international fleet of some of the finest and most unique ships in the world sail into Portland harbor for the 3-day Tall Ships Festival. You won’t find a better vantage point to view the ships than from a kayak alongside the route the ships will take as they parade into the harbor.
We’ve scheduled two special kayaking trips on Saturday afternoon that will coincide with the “Parade of Sail.” The parade, which is the highlight of the festival, is when all the ships sail past Fort Gorges to their docks on the Portland waterfront.
This special trip will last 4-hours and, like all our guided trips, will begin with a quick lesson on sea kayaking and a safety talk. Then we’ll venture out onto the waters of Casco Bay, looking out for seals, seabirds, lighthouses, all sorts of other interesting landmarks — plus the beautiful Tall Ships! The trip will include a stop at Fort Gorges, where we will enjoy a snack provided by Portland Paddle and a close-up view of the “Parade of Sail.” We’ll also have a chance to explore the fascinating 19th-century fort that’s surrounded by water and only accessible by small boat.
The cost of the trip is the same as our usual half-day trips: $58 per person
Trips will depart at 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM on Saturday, July 18. Book your spot by clicking the green button below or by giving us a call at 207-370-9730.
Can’t make it on Saturday? We have lots of other trips going out this weekend and we’ll be sure to have plenty of opportunities to view the ships along the docks and as they sail throughout the harbor.
