Self-Guided & Custom Multi-Day Kayak Trips
Plan a Kayak Camping Trip That’s Just Right for Your Group
If none of our group multi-day trips fit what you're looking for (or don't work with your schedule or budget), we have two other options to consider: 1) We can customize a guided trip that’s just for your group; 2) We can help you plan and outfit a self-guided trip.
Custom Multi-Day Trips
We offer a range of regularly scheduled overnight trips to these islands, but we're always willing to create a customized trip just for your group. This is a great option for boy scouts, bachelor(ette) parties, school groups, families and other groups looking for a fun outdoor adventure. Your trip can last as many days as you’d like and we can either provide all meals or you can provide your own. All of our standard multi-day trips can be set up for a private group, or we can create a completely new trip that heads to a different destination or that matches well with your group’s interests or experience level. If you’re interested in creating a custom multi-day trip please email Zack at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 207-370-9730.
Planning a trip on your own (without a professional guide) is a great option for many experienced sea kayakers who are comfortable with skills such as navigating in fog, rescuing capisized kayaks in rough seas and crossing busy shipping channels. If you (or someone in your group) fits that description we can help you arrange a self-guided trip. Please understand that we cannot allow your group to use our kayaks for a multi-day trip if you are completely lacking the necessary skills and knowledge.
If you have some solid sea kayaking experience but are lacking skills in a certain area we can arrange a session with one of our instructors to ensure you have the skills and knowledge needed to safely navigate the islands.
Costs of a Self-Guided Trip
The base cost of a self-guided trip will reflect the cost of renting kayaks (paddles, PFDs, dry bags come included).
Potential add-ons include the following:
Shuttle service ($40-$100) if you’d like to plan a one-way route or launch from somewhere different than our site in Portland.
Wetsuit rental ($10 per day) or drysuit rental ($20 per day)
Tent rental ($20 per night)
Private lesson ($75 for a 2-hour session when purchased in combination with a multi-day kayak rental)
Waterproof nautical chart purchase ($20)
VHF radio rental ($10 per day)
“Wag bag” purchase ($5 each) if you need a system for carrying out solid human waste from the islands
